The Man Behind the Mask

My name is Nick Gourlie.

I am well known throughout the airsoft community for my humorous video reviews of anything airsoft found at YouTube.com/NickGourlie . Well now I have created this blog site where I will not only embed my videos, but further expand on my reviews and give a more in depth analysis on the guns. On top of this expect to find random tangents from me about airsoft in general, this could range from just sharing general airsoft knowledge to giving my personal advice or complaining about something.

If you are wondering a little more about me, well here it goes. I was raised my whole life in Kirkland, WA. At the age of 14 I was first introduced into the world of airsoft by my brother and his friends. Starting out as a major noob, owning a loadout consisting only of springers (a stage in which most of us were in at one point in time or another). From there on I became more and more intrigued by the sport and when I was about 16 I began taking it a little more seriously, researching replicas before I buy and not buying from sporting good stores, but rather trusted online airsoft retailers and local airsoft stores.

When I was 17 I decided it might be fun just to do a mock airsoft review where I threw on a strange voice, wore a mask, and just reviewed airsoft guns in weird ass ways different from anyone else. Not expecting it to catch on, I got my friend (Nate Johnson) to film me and I made videos for the KWA KM4A1 and the UTG MP5 and uploaded them onto YouTube. Instantly I began getting good feedback on them so I said “Hey, why not keep doing this and actually do a better job reviewing the gun at the same time?” And so started my airsoft reviews that you know and love.

Currently I am attending Washington State University with a major in Digital Technology and Culture (basically web design, graphic design, 3D design all in one major). It is for this reason that I can not constantly uploading more reviews, but I am doing everything I can to get more online. When not at school you can find me airsofting, playing guitar, gaming, internet trolling, or doing something with photography or graphic design.

My partner in crime for these awesome videos you know and love is Nate Johnson, my cameraman. He has been a great friend of mine that I have known for longer than I can remember, and I would trust no other soul to film my reviews. (Plus anytime I shoot anyone else they tend to get more angry than Nate does)

All of the videos have been edited by me and all of the songs you have heard me sing/play have been made up on the spot (probably why they tend to be so terrible…). If you have any questions you want to ask me then feel free to, if your question is airsoft related read here or if it is just a random question feel free to ask away below or add me on Facebook.

  1. I more or less just film on sunny days just cause everything looks nicer for the camera and such. Washington (especially the area I live in around Seattle) gets a lot of rain. And it is gray… a lot.

    But I love it!!

  2. Holy crap I never would have suspected you lived in Washington from your vids it looks alot more…….. idk bright and warm I always pictured wa as dark and cold…… and rainy and I guess I’m one step ahead of you cuz I really started getting into airsoft at a younger age HA HA! Lol
